An adding and subtracting apparatus may be used as a billiard scorer, in which case the thin end of a cue can be utilized, instead of a style, to depress the pivoted annular member B, Fig. IV, and release the clock-driven or like mechanism S. The pressure upon the cue may, by its action on the annular member B, directly drive the ratchet-wheel Q, Fig. VII, the differential movement in all cases being determined by the engagement of the arm F on the disk A, Fig. I, with the stylus or cue. The wheel Q rotates the disk A and the totalizing pointers R, R<1> through the connexions shown.'
