"This invention relates in general to calculating machines, and has more particular reference to the provision of means for facilitating the use of power-driven, key-responsive machines in negative forms of calculation; namely, subtraction and division.

According to the present invention there is provided a calculating machine for performing division operations, including a multi-denominational actuator for an accumulator, each denominational element of the actuator being responsive to one of a number of ordinal columns of digit keys, and means for causing the operation of all those, and only those, actuator elements, not actuated responsively to depression of digit keys in entering a devisor, which are below the highest order in which a digit key has been depressed."
